Toe Patches

We toe patch by smoothing and texturing the existing rand and then sticking a rubber strip over the top. This maintains the shoes shape and tensioning, and ollows us to resole many times without risking further damage.

In some instances we may need to completley remove and replece a portion of the rand, however we try to avoid this if possible

    Firstly look at the toe, is there a hole through the rubber? If so you will need a toe patch, if not you may still.

    If there is a hole all the way through the leather or inner material, or this material is very damaged, we will not be able to repair the shoes. We can’t fix the structure of the shoe, only the rubber.

    If there is no visual damage to the rand, then press into it above the toes and feel around. If it feels thin and weak then you will need a toe patch.

 

If you go through this process and you don’t think you need a toe patch then select the “Do what is needed” or “Do not toe patch” options.

We may discover damage once the soles are off or need to stabalise the rand once we start working on the shoe.

CAN YOU RESOLE ALL SHOES?

Yes we can. However if there are holes which are too large then it is not possible.

If you have a visible hole in your rand then you will require a repair. We can only do a rand repair in conjunction with a resole.

Yes you can but if we are not there go to the Foundry and use the drop box.
